Learning about the infographic design has been enjoyable. I had fun making my own and could see myself doing more of that and becoming much better in the process.

These tough times we are facing are only temporary and we will become stronger on the other side. Thanks for being so understanding and supportive during these times.

My Infographic

This infographic represents me because this is one of my childhood heroes. Being a Lakers fan growing up in the 90s, I idolized Kobe Bryant. During this pandemic we are experiencing, I purchased a basketball hoop to teach my seven year old daughter the game. We yell, “Kobe!” when we shoot the ball. #Girldad

Class has been hard to focus on these past couple weeks with everything happening in the world and spring break also being in the middle. Being home for weeks at a time with no where to go has been a different experience than anything I have ever had before.

I am happy for the time I get to spend with my family because of the pandemic, but I am ready to go back to work and get back in a normal routine of life. The audio assignment I submitted spoke about the hiatus of sports and how I am ready for that to start again as well.

My Digital Audio

This audio file represents me because it goes over how I am feeling, along with many others, without having sports on amid this corona virus pandemic we are currently facing. While I understand and agree with the hiatus of sports, it does not make it easier not having that outlet available during this time. Hopefully one day soon we can get back to a normalized society and back to not living in fear.

Class has been getting interesting with good information on how to record audio and how to take good photos and videos. Radio is something I have an interest in and learning audio tips if helpful.

Using videos and photos is probably something I will not use as much, but it is good to have the knowledge on how to do these tasks to be well-rounded.

Digital Image Assignment

This photo represents me because it is my daughter that is pictured at the beginning of this Girl Scout cookie season. She loves doing Girl Scouts and is passionate about selling cookies and meeting her goals. She was my inspiration to return to school three years ago to earn my degree. I used the rule of thirds in this photo as she is positioned in the middle third of the photo.

The class so far has been enjoyable and I am learning a lot about digital media and its nuances. The video lectures have been easy to follow and I feel they are a great source for getting prepared for the exams.

Going forward I hope to continue to be successful in the class and continue to learn about important information relevant to my future journalism and media career.

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
